True Hope

Romans 5:1–5

[1] Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. [2] Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. [3] Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, [4] and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, [5] and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. (ESV)

There are two kinds of hope; blind hope and true hope. Blind hope is more like a wish. You hope it doesn’t storm while you’re in the middle of a long walk. True hope is anchored in the promises of God. We struggle in this life and experience many joys and sorrows, yet our hope of eternal life, of seeing lost loved ones who are believers, and seeing Jesus face to face is a hope that is poured into us through the Holy Spirit. Sometimes our faith waivers and our circumstances seem hopeless; but God, through the Holy Spirit, pours his love into our hearts.

Do you believe this without any doubt? If so, you are a child of God. If not, you are essentially living in hell on earth. Can you imagine living this life without the hope of the gospel? Pray for those who are living hopeless lives, and live in a way that demonstrates the hope you have in Christ.
