Mission

In October of 2017 we began walking through the grief of losing Nate Kok, a 16-year-old junior at Aurora Christian High School. Nate left a legacy of providing an example of what it looks like to follow Jesus by caring about others. He touched many lives in his short life, and so we created this site and began to serve others as a way to continue the good work that Nate started.

The prayer and projects that engage in help us to remember Nate and what was important to him, but more importantly, we are putting ourselves in a position to lose ourselves and to serve others. We've found that while we serve in various ways, the little worlds we are wrapped up in throughout the week fade away as we come in contact with people who need help, encouragement, and love.

Friends of Nate is about sharing the love of Jesus. Nate cared about others because he understood what Jesus did for him. Jesus cared to the point of dying for us so that we may have life in him. In a world filled with bullying, self-absorption, competition, and loneliness, we need to show the love of Christ by caring about others. We hope that through Friends of Nate we'll touch many lives and have the opportunity to share the gospel through conversations and actions.

We'd love to have you join us in praying for others and with future projects! Whether you knew Nate personally or not, we would encourage you to be a part of our mission to touch the lives of those in need around us.
