Bread of Life

Read John 6:22-71

John 6:35 - Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”

John 6:37-40 - All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

John 6:51 - I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”

John 6:53-56 - So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.”

John 6:60 - When many of his disciples heard it, they said, “This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?”

John 6:66 - After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him.

What is Jesus talking about when he says he is the bread of life, and we are to feed on his flesh and drink his blood? Simply put, if we are believers, Christ abides in us and is with us all the time. We will never be hungry or thirsty because he is with us at every point in our lives. He will never leave us or forsake us. In the highs, lows, darkness, and light, he is with us. What a wonderful Savior we have!
