God’s Decree - Our Rest

Psalm 139:16

[16] Your eyes saw my unformed substance;

in your book were written, every one of them,

the days that were formed for me,

when as yet there was none of them.

James 4:15

[15] Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.”

The fact that God ordains our days should comfort us as far as our lives and situations are concerned, as well as for our loss of those whom God calls home. We either trust in God’s sovereignty, or live life thinking God is standing by and watching, then reacting. God decrees, and it comes to pass.

God’s decree extends beyond the earthly ministry of Christ to embrace the lives of all people, whose days were written in God’s book before they were written in God’s book before they were born and whose deaths were determined by God’s will. Therefore, it is a true saying that a servant of God is “immortal until his work is done.” Revelation and God - Joel Beebe, Paul Smalley
