Providence and Forgiveness

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” - Revelation 21:1-4

When God’s providence is revealed to us

“What will the difficulties we met along the way—then signify? The remembrance of them will only remain to heighten our sense of the love, care, and power of our Savior and Leader! O how shall we then admire, adore, and praise Him—when He condescends to unfold to us—the beauty, propriety, and harmony of the whole train of His providential dealings with us—and give us a clear retrospect of all the way, and all the turns of our earthly pilgrimage!” - The Letters of John Newton

The guide who knows what to teach us and where to lead us

“You tell me to look at the cross: that it is the picture of forgiveness.

Meditate on the cross, and there you will begin to learn. Meditate on me, and I will be your Teacher and Guide.

I will counsel you in forgiveness. I will lead you through this wilderness to the other side, where we will know joy and peace and love. Let me teach you, for I am willing. I am speaking; lean into me; trust me.

I am here, you have nothing to fear. I am your Guide. I know the way. Follow me; there is no other way to the other side. Lean into me, and rely on me, and I will give you power from on high.

Listen to me. We are in the school of forgiveness together. I am still forgiving, day in and day out. My forgiveness is constantly extended. As you walk with me through my forgiveness, your own will be manifest as well.

I am here, you have nothing to fear.”
