Start in Heaven
One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple. - Psalm 27:4
In Seeking The Face Of God, Martyn Lloyd-Jones says this about a strategy for life from Psalm 27:4: “We must always start in heaven, with God. Then having done that, we come to earth and face the problems of life and of living as we find them in the light of what we have already seen in heaven with God.”
Lloyd-Jones goes on to say, “Never start with your problems. Never! Never start with earth; never start with men. Always start in heaven; always start with God. “
To dwell in the house of Lord is to belong to his household, always in communication and fellowship with Him. Our main desire should be to worship God and adore Him. To gaze upon the beauty of the Lord is to see His goodness and to meditate on His supremacy. David’s foremost desire was to be in God’s presence, in His household, to gaze upon his beauty and splendor.
