Nature
Psalm 19:1-2
The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
Creation, not Theistic Evolution, reveals God’s love and power.
“God’s glorious love is revealed to us, in part, in the extravagant beauty of the created world. God didn’t have to create over three hundred species of hummingbirds and thirty thousand species of orchids. He didn’t have to create the cacao bean and sugar cane, and humans with the creative genius to make chocolate. But he did. What a gratuitously loving God! “The entire material universe speaks of God’s love, his boundless affection for us,” Pope Francis writes. “Soil, water, mountains: everything is, as it were, a caress of God.”12 This “caress” is there to be felt, whether you’re gardening in your backyard or strolling along a rocky coastline. It’s the soothing comfort of a God who created this world for us to inhabit and cultivate, to know and be known within. It’s “the peace of wild things,” as Wendell Berry might say.”
