Action Words

11 But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. - 1 Timothy 6:11-12

These verses are loaded with action words that we, as Christians, need to live out. Flee from temptation and false teachers. Pursue righteousness. Think of different examples of pursuit. To pursue something means that you relentlessly work to attain it. Pursue means that you are all in. Fight the good fight of faith. To fight for something is to put your whole self on the line and to attack the enemy. Our faith has to be fought for because are fighting a daily spiritual battle. Take hold of the eternal life that we have been called to. Hang on to this reality regardless of what happens to you or the world around you. This world is temporary. Our bodies are temporary. Think eternity and keep your eyes on the prize.
