Being There

I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. Remember my chains. Grace be with you. - Colossians 4:18

Paul was writing to the Colossians while he was in prison. He wanted to make they kept him in prayer while he was in chains. As believers, we often forget about others who are going through struggles. A death in the family, loss of work, illness, depression, spiritual struggles, etc. Although we know what we should do, we often get lost in ourselves; in our own problems and busyness. Jesus will not forget our chains or the chains of others who are struggling. Keep a running list of those who you promised to keep in prayer. Encourage them by letting them know you are praying for them and thinking of them. Be the person who is there for the long haul. Your seemingly insignificant gestures will have an enormous impact on those who are hurting.
