Stop Being Afraid

Actor Jim Caviezel (The Passion of the Christ and Paul, Apostle of Christ) was recently interviewed and was asked persecution around the world, and what message he would like the audience to hear. Caviezel said, “We’ve got to, as Christians, start not being afraid. Every man dies. Not every man really lives. To live is Christ. To die is gain. We all die, man. It’s how you live your life, and there are a lot of people out there right now that need our help. You know, and I think modern-day Christians really struggle with death.”

Philippians 1:20–21

“…as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”(ESV)

We have to preach this to ourselves each day - “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” We shouldn’t be afraid of death because if we know Jesus as our savior and friend, we’ll be with him for eternity when we die. Our lives are described as a vapor in light of eternity, so cherish each day and live with no fear. Live for God’s glory.
